Chain locker forward of bulkhead followed by a large V berth with storage shelves on either side. A hanging locker is to port. Moving aft, to starboard is the head compartment and vanity, which has two access doors, one from the V berth, the other from the main cabin. To port is the galley with two burner stove and oven, sink and refrigerated icebox. Next aft is the main salon, with a fold down chart table forward to starboard, and comfortable seating for four. Next aft, on either side of the companionway, are port and starboard quarterberths.

An unusual and refreshing design in today's world of deep draft fin keeled performance oriented sailboats, Kodiak delivers the goods in a fast, responsive hull and powerful rig at no compromise to her thin water cruising capability. Well proportioned lines make KODIAK easy on the eye, and her lightish displacement, round bottom and broad, flat sections aft, coupled to a generous sail plan translate to a very competitive and exciting performer. The fully retractable keel makes KODIAK a most attractive, beautifully built, and intelligent response to the needs of the shoal-draft cruiser, allowing access to anchoring and berthage other boats in her size range simply cannot get to.

KODIAK's interior is suprisingly roomy. She has a terrific forward cabin with a huge V-berth and lots of light. The head compartment is large and functional. The galley is a very workable seagoing arrangement with plenty of storage space for provisions, and excellent bracing provided by the keel trunk housing. Anyone who has ever had galley duty while underway will appreciate the safety and ergonomics of this kitchen. The comfortable main salon has room for four for sit down meals below. Twin port and starboard quarterberths make excellent bunks for the off watch crew or guests.

Craig Walters, the designer, cut his teeth alongside Ron Holland and Henry Scheel at the design stable of Morgan Yachts. His attention to design details on KODIAK deserve close scrutiny. The kick-up rudder is a beautiful piece of engineering, swinging aft to enable the exploration of a creek or tidal estuary, and large enough for real control on a breezy reach. The centerboard features Derlin coating, close tolerances and a self-sealing flange when retracted, eliminating rattling, resistance and marine growth. Eliptical trailing edges and a well rounded toe make the centerboard a very efficient foil when fully deployed. The propeller shaft is housed in a benacelle. This eliminates the need for a prop strut and keeps the engine low and aft, out of the interior space. It also provides excellent protection for the propeller when maneuvering in shallow water, with the keel retracted.

Built to a very high standard by Holby Marine, of Bristol, RI. KODIAK has an attractive low maintenance exterior, while retaining enough teak accents, such as her solid full length toe rail and cabin top hand rails to distinguish her handsome lines. KODIAK features solid rod rigging and Barient self tailing winches. The cockpit is deep, roomy and well protected.

KODIAK represents an extremely good value as an ingeniously designed and proven blue water racer/cruiser that is also perfect for exploring those shoal water coves and inlets where most boats in her class simply cannot go.
