1966 Stephens Brothers Pilothouse

Stephens Brothers boat building firm of Stockton, California operated from 1902 to 1987. Over the years the company became famous for its elegantly designed pleasure craft, including sailboats, speedboats, cruisers and private yachts.

Stephens Bros. also built many vessels for the U.S. military, especially during World War II. Through the mid-1960s, the company continued to gain popularity, with more orders flowing in from the east coast. The most impressive of these was an 85-foot (26 m) yacht, Miss Budweiser, which was completed in 1962 for Anheuser Busch in New York.

Today, Stephens Bros. boats are highly prized as collectors’ items. Stephens Bros. boat owners meet every year at the Stephens Rendezvous, organized by the Northern California Fleet of the Classic Yacht Association, to show off these beautiful vessels.

"Ranger" is an extremely well preserved classic motor yacht of this era, and the beneficiary of over $200,000 in recent upgrades and maintenance by her current owner of 20 years.

Ranger would make an excellent live-aboard and long range cruiser with her  expansive interior, excellent natural light and her copious amounts of built in storage.

On the main deck her interior layout comprises a commanding pilothouse with excellent visibility, aft of which is a spacious galley and elegant full width salon leading to an enclosed aft deck. 

Her lower deck comprises two staterooms with private heads, and a forward crew quarters with self-contained head and secondary galley.

Her walk-in engine room houses two GM diesels well maintained and with only 4,200 hours +/- with  all service records available, as well as a large generator.

Possessing a Certificate of Inspection for charter as recently as 2014, many of the yacht's systems have been brought in to compliance with exacting Coastguard COI standards and ABYC specs.

Significant refit items include:

• New Teak decks - bonded not fastened - 2012;
• LPU  topside paint stem to stern;
• New autopilot $15,000 - 2017;
• New Electronics - 2013;
• Satellite Antenna - 2013;
• Major refastening with over 900 silicon bronze fasteners - 2012;
• Major electrical re-wiring to ABYC standards for COI; 
• New Muffler port side engine;
• New Water Tanks - 2012;
• New raw water sea strainers - 2016;
• All engine hoses replaced to comply  with COI regs.;
• Stabilizers - serviced 2012;
• All Wiring and schematics available and onboard;
• New Lofrans Falcon anchor windlass;
• Poulsbo Yacht Club live-aboard moorage subject to Yacht Club membership and wait list.

The 2017 survey concluded: "This very well cared for vessel is in very good condition with signs of continued high quality maintenance. The hull  and structure are well cared for and show little signs of age."  The survey estimated the fair market value at $325,000.
