YachtWorld.com, the dominant Internet resource for yacht buyers and brokers, has recently expanded its staff to include a new general manager, accounting administrator, customer care facilitator, and a sales consultant.
Building on the success created by Jessica Muffett, YachtWorld's Publisher, who started the business in 1995 with just a handful of boat brokers and several hundred boats, to over 420 of the countries most prominent marine brokers listing more than 13,500 boats today.
In order to handle the explosive growth, the team has expanded and named Neil McCurdy as its new General Manager. McCurdy will spearhead the development of new business opportunities for the site, focusing on strategic marketing initiatives, new product development and operational as well as logistical support.
"YachtWorld is rapidly becoming an online yachting destination site and its success is the direct result of our publisher, Jessica Muffett," said Geof Barker, co-CEO of The Cobalt Group, Inc. which owns and operates YachtWorld.com.
"Looking ahead, we are going to extend our service and product offerings into new areas and I am pleased to announce the addition of Neil as General Manager to support this growth. His skills in marketing and business development in a high-tech environment fit perfectly with the company's needs," added Barker.
McCurdy formerly was Director of Marketing and Business Development for The Walter Group, Inc., a Seattle-based company that provides strategic counsel and implementation expertise to telecommunications companies worldwide. He also worked in sales and marketing for Nextel Communications and for Fisher Broadcasting, Inc., and was CEO and founder of Group Two Industries, Inc.
In addition to McCurdy, YachtWorld.com has recently hired marine industry advertising veteran Julie McGown as Sales Consultant. McGown, with over 14 years experience in the print and publication industry, is also joined by newly appointed Customer Care Specialist, Dalin Overbay, and new Accounting Administrator, Johanna Morlock.
"Our team is growing, service and product offerings are expanding, and the popularity of YachtWorld is achieving record viewership. We're in the business of making it easy for boat buyers to shop on the Internet, while at the same time teaching brokers how to cater to this new type of buyer." Said Jessica Muffett, Publisher of YachtWorld.com.
As the team continues to expand, so too will the service offerings. "In addition to growing our base of boat brokers and adding hundreds of new listings, we will be launching a premium online marine hardware store, redesigning our Web site, and adding new features to the Multiple Listing System (MLS) in order to meet customer demand," said McCurdy. "This is an exciting time for YachtWorld and The Cobalt Group and I am thrilled to be a part of this great company," he added.
