ICE YACHTS, the new boatyard, comes onto the market with ICE62, a fast cruiser dedicated to those enthusiastic, competent ship owners seeking intense emotions and fun at the helm combined with high quality custom construction.
ICE62 is a modern fasrt cruiser that stands out for its performances, comfort on board and high sea-keeping qualities.
A Felci Yacht Design project, fully and veritable ITALIAN MADE by boatyard craftmen who boast more than thirty years’ experiences and the delivery of more than 80 prestigious maxi yachts .
From an hydrodynamic point of view, the hull’s waterlines, the “T” bulb keel and the deep rudder guarantee high performances, with impressive “numbers” underlining the up-wind attitude and matching with the surfing potential when sailing down wind.
In order to guarantee these performances ICE62 combines hi-tech and high skilled during the building process.
The hull and the deck are laminated in a female mould and both are achieved using hybrid carbon – E glass fibre, using infusion techniques; the structures in carbon fibre are vacuum bag laminated, thus becoming an intrinsic whole with the hull and deck.
Such construction solutions allow the constructor to keep the weight very low, giving the yacht an
extremely high longitudinal and torsional stiffness.
There are two different solutions for the interiors of ICE62, between different finishes and an infinite
number of details.
Another key point is the versatility connected to the different keel configurations. In particular the choice between a lifting keel that can alter the draught from almost 4 metres to 2.3 metres, and a standardversion keel that, according to the customer’s requirements, can vary from 2.9 metres to about 3.4 metres,
allows the ICE62 to adapt to various needs and uses.
These options are also linked to the optimization of the weight of the bulb, which is specifically
dimensioned and CNC built.
In detail the lifting keel will allow the draft to be modified from 4 metres to 2.3 metres.
The high-strength Weldox built fin keel and the lead bulb have the advantage of reducing the percentage of ballast weight as well as the overall weight of the yacht, thus maintaining unvaried the righting moment.
Thus there is great power when necessary with minimum displacement for very fast surfing downwind and fast transfer by engine.
All these points give high averages speeds in all weather conditions, whether racing or cruising.
The shipyard also offers the choice of installing a double blade rudder configuration, typical of oceanic racers.
Moreover both these rudder configurations, single and double blades, guarantee impressive control at a high heeling angle; this, too, testifies to the careful attention given to all matters of security and safety that both the designers and the builders are dedicating to this yacht.
The deck mirrors the general lines of all Felci Yacht Design projects, uniting simplicity and style, modernism and efficiency, comfort and versatility.
There is a wide relaxation area aft of the steering system, equipped with direct access to the sea via a practical opening transom that can act not only as a small beach but also as a garage entrance for stowing the tender.
The spacious garage on the double bladed rudder version can hold a 3 metre tender, able to offer midrange mobility and transfer.
The cockpit, with its wide benches and comfortable backrests, is decidedly oversize and not only does it allow for comfortable, well-protected navigation but it has space for a large dining table.
The wheelhouse, with its flowing, aggressive lines, evolves along the characteristic concept of Felci Yacht Design’s more recent projects, that of the raised saloon.
Raising the level of the dinette’s bottom board, bringing it closer to that of the cockpit, makes entrance easier and furthermore, thanks to the wide front and lateral windows, there is a greater sense of interaction with the external environment, making life on board more enjoyable.
The deck equipment, studied specifically for racing conditions, never interferes with comfort on board.
The boat is equipped with an electrical furling Genoa, located below deck, as is the pivoting anchor arm.
All typical high quality items such as the teak deck, flush deck hatches, open transom, the flush deck recessed dodger, folding cleats and other items are standard on this high level production; details that underline just how the study of the deck has evolved in a search for the best synthesis between a deck suited to relaxed cruising and one pregnant with seaworthiness and efficiency, so necessary during long range sailing or a regatta.
These are the characteristics that have enabled the famous FELCI 61 yachts, ICE 62 being a direct descendant, to win important oceanic regattas such as the ARC Atlantic Rally, the Giraglia, the Antigua Sailing Week, the 500 x 2 and many more besides, but also able to offer splendid family cruising in maximum tranquillity and safety.
The mast, the boom and the retractable bowsprit are in carbon, laminated in an autoclave and supplied by leading companies in this sector.
The rigging is characterized by a non-overlapping Genoa with no runners and sheer line shrouds
The interior areas, spacious and comfortable, are available in various precious woods to suit the owner’s tastes and are elegant yet practical.
From start to finish the greatest care has been given to all details on board so that they might unite functionality and aesthetics.
Thanks to the various technologies used, such as weight-lightened panels, a great deal of load has been saved compared to traditional materials but not to the detriment of quality woodwork or the excellence of all-important details.
The systems are complete and are supplied by the best makers on the market today; heating, airconditioning and domotics systems are also available.
Wide, bright lacquered surfaces recall the typical concept of internal style, seeking that modern essence of simplicity which makes them absolutely contemporary.
The owner may choose between the various layouts available; there are three bathrooms, a spacious dinette with a roomy galley and large pantry, there is a choice of three or four lavishly appointed cabins, as well as the crew’s cabin in the bow.
The boatyard’s engineers are on hand to give visitors the opportunity to reach out and touch the craft physically, as well as to illustrate the particular construction qualities and the attention to detail that a product born from Italian design and Italian building tradition can offer.
