This extraordinary custom steel schooner originated from a George Sutton design which her owner modified from an aft to a center cockpit arrangement. She is titled and listed as a 46’ yacht which is her LOD. With her 10’ bow sprit she measures 56’ LOA. Her LWL is 42’, and her air draft (bridge clearance) is 56’.
Her hull and deck were built by Dennis Schreiber, a highly regarded builder of steel vessels in St. Augustine, Florida. His process of rolling the hull plating produced a fair hull with rounded bilges devoid of multiple hard chines.
The owner, a master mariner and accomplished carpenter, proceeded fitting and finishing the yacht to the highest standards. Six different woods were used to create the exquisite interior joiner work - teak, maple, mahogany, ash, juniper, and cedar. Where additional expertise was needed, other shipwrights were contracted. All wiring was done to ABYC code by an ABYC certified electrician. Mack Sails provided the sails and rigging. Only the best equipment was sourced, including Technicold, Force 10, Ocean Breeze, Jabsco, Raymarine, Mack Sails, U.S. Spars, Profurl, Andersen, Lewmar, ABI, Ideal, Edson, Hynautic, Martek, and more.
The yacht is being sold complete with a 2014 AB 11’ RIB and Yamaha 20 HP four stroke outboard, all cookware, tableware, glassware, maintenance material, spare parts, manuals, and blueprints.

VESSEL IS LOCATED IN: Stuart, FL
The Westerbeke engine is a “take-out” that was sourced from an engine shop that had replaced it with a larger engine in another boat. That shop told the owner that it had 600 hours when removed. It was independently inspected and tested before accepting and installing it.
From first stepping aboard and taking in the impressive rigging, to admiring the multi-wood interior joiner work, to probing the bilges, the one word I kept exclaiming was “wow”! Although the entire build took several years, this yacht looks new. Indeed, most of her major systems and equipment are only a few years old, and she was launched only two years ago.
As the owner detailed the building process, his obsession with having every detail done right became apparent. The very first step was having the raw hull & deck structure, inside and out, sand blasted by a contracted specialist. The owner then hand painted the entire interior with Hempel 2-part epoxy primer. The bilges below the water line were then coated with Sterling white epoxy. Above the water line, self-extinguishing foam insulation was sprayed on all surfaces. The foam was then hand-cut to a uniform thickness, and then covered with Juniper wood paneling.
The exterior hull was coated with Hempel 2-part epoxy primer, and then faired several times with Awlfair 545. The final top coat of Awlgrip “Majestic Blue” was sprayed by a specialist. The decks and house were also primed with Hempel, all welds and seams were faired, and then painted with four coats of Sterling white epoxy.
The finished yacht stands tall with her impressive rig, bow sprit, and gleaming midnight blue hull with tan cove stripe and matching tan canvas work. Her rich all wood interior is warm (and cool) and comfortable, and looks brand new. However, there are some tight places where headroom is shy of 6’ and girth clearance is less than 2’.
Due to a personal medical condition which prevents further use, the yacht is sadly but seriously offered for sale at this extremely attractive and competitive price.
