The J-24 has a non-skid deck for better traction, less wood for easier maintenance (J-24 sailors prefer to sail), moulded V-berth air tank for greater safety, precise keel placement, the latest deck layout for optimum sailing efficiency, and a one-piece hull mould, and faired blades, to reduce race preparation time. J-24 stands the test of time. A well-prepared 1977 model, built to the same shape and weight with rigid, Baltek-cored construction, can still win the worlds, even after 30,000 miles of trailering. J-24 is for everyone, age 12 to 80, no matter what their style: racing, daysailing, or cruising. Her flared topsides make her dry on deck. Her "weekender" cabin makes it possible to get warm on cold days, and she can be sailed easily by one person with only the mainsail. The international J-24 is the only offshore one-design sanctioned for world competition.
