At an overall length of 29 feet 6 inches and a 9-foot 6-inch beam, the Cobalt 292 is a bowrider with room. In fact, with 186 cubic feet of storage, the 292 has more cargo space than the biggest SUV. The aft wrap-around lounge seats seven comfortably, with an insulated ice chest nestled beneath the cushions. A round cockpit table drops into place within reach of a galley unit which includes a generous sink, dedicated bottle storage, and room for an optional fridge. The helm seat adjusts fore and aft, up and down. At the stern, a swim platform comes equipped with transom shower, wet storage, and a concealed three-step ladder.
The 292 is of the larger bow riders on the market for her age. She is built on the hull of Cobalt’s popular 293 Cuddy, a deep-V with a relatively wide 9-foot, 6-inch beam and a fully integrated transom. Off the transom is a hidden swim ladder and a large storage compartment.
The cockpit of the 292 has a wraparound lounge with seating for seven, with a small galley opposite. The galley features a sink, storage drawers and refrigerator. Forward of the cockpit hidden within the port side console, is a small head compartment with a toilet and over 4 feet of headroom.
At the helm
Additional features include port and starboard helm seats with flip-up bolsters, a hydraulic engine compartment hatch, leather tilt wheel, anchor locker and a cockpit ice chest.
A comfortable and very quiet ride, twin 260 hp Volvo stern drives will cruise the Cobalt 292 at 27–28 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 38 knots.
