This Corsair 31 "R" model is both a racer and a cruiser with a strong leaning more as a cruiser. She is blazing quick, capable of reaching speeds over 20 knots. She has been modified with sails and custom features that tame the high wind conditions found on San Francisco Bay. She has an aft cockpit that can comfortly accommodate you and your crew. The interior is large. There is a forepeak berth area with a head compartment. The main salon has a galley on the starboard side. There is a sink, Walus oil stove and cabin heater, and fresh water system. There are two long bench seats that could be used for berths or they can be converter to a huge double. But, the interior is nicely custom finished but purposely-kept simple to save weight.

This Corsair 31 was one of the first versions of the "R" model. The head compartment is on the portside forward. the forepeak berth is huge. The main cabin gives the interior a larger appearance. Unlike the aft cabin model, the main cabin is 2 feet longer and is completely open without a table or the floor battery hump. The Nissan outboard engine is electric start; transom hung and can be hand steered to improve close-in maneuvering. The wing nets extend all the way to the ama and eliminate the awkward aluminum beam of the previous F-31.
The Corsair 31R is an enhanced performance version of the well-proven, maxi-trailerable F-31. Like all earlier Corsair sport cruisers is exceptionally fast, roomy, and comfortable. In this the R version, many cruising amenities have been added like a oil fired cabin heater Wallas stove, AC shore power system, refrigerator, solar panel, and a substantially complete sail plan is spread on a modern rotating rig to give the already sporty Corsair 31 an extra jolt of adrenaline that is sure to please the true performance enthusiast. The mast is a beautifully finished aluminum rotating wing section developed by Corsair. It is two feet, six inches taller than the older F-31 mast. It is even easier to handle. with synthetic standing rigging the mast has less weight aloft, it gives the boat an easier motion, even in chop. The sail plan is simple and efficient with a carbon square-top mainsail, cruising mainsail, 2 blade jib, asymmetric spinnaker, and screacher. Flown from the end of a seven-foot bow sprit, the roller furling screacher is one of the most powerful and versatile sails in the inventory and can be used to windward in light airs instead of a genoa. Interior moldings and equipment have been improved and upgraded to a more finished fit out.
