NorthernStar is an excellent representative of the popular IP38 cruiser. The comments from the owners' show how much she has been loved:
"It doesn’t get better than NorthernStar. This gorgeous two-owner boat will be your home away from home. Two staterooms, two heads, spacious salon, well-equipped galley, and plenty of storage. IP 38s are blue water boats, some have been as far as Australia and back, though this one has only gone between the Chesapeake Bay and Florida. So far that is. You can fulfill YOUR dreams and take her wherever you wish. She’s eager to go!
NorthernStar had one owner from 1992-2001 and she has been ours ever since. The previous owner took her down the Intercoastal Waterway to Florida and back, but she’s stayed in the Chesapeake Bay these past 15 years. She has been hauled every winter and lovingly maintained inside and out. We added a B&G autohelm and a portable helm-mounted Garmin GPS Chart plotter, which makes for easy sailing along with the self-tending roller furling staysail and genoa.
We’ve never needed air conditioning, since the companionway plus all 12 fully openable port holes and 6 hatches are screened (the hatch screens are teak framed). Air conditioning can easily be installed by its next owner if desired.
The gleam on the teak rubrails, toerails, handrails, gunnels and bowsprit show how well they have been cared for. The original sails are well maintained and fit for duty.
As the photos show, the living quarters are almost like new. She has forward and aft berths that sleep two people each, and the sofas in the salon can accommodate three more. The two heads – forward and midships – feed into a single Lectra-san equipped holding tank.
It’s as easy to cook in the galley as it is at home, with a propane-fueled oven and three-burner stove plus an Adler-Barbour refrigerator/freezer. The large fold-down table in the salon exposes a beautiful teak cabinet for glassware and other accoutrements when lowered. It makes dining in the cabin a relaxing experience, though our favorite spot is up on deck enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The comfortable cockpit has its own fold-down table, ice chest and fresh water spray, but the midships deck and the bow are perfect places to lounge as well.
NorthernStar is a dream come true. We know you’ll agree!"
I know you will agree as well. NorthernStar is available for inspection right now. Call for a viewing appointment today. Our office is open and you can see her this weekend.
