Launched in 1989, the original main engines were changed to marinised twin Hino 360hp turbo engines in 2009 when an extra cabin for crew was also added. The change of engines means she now has a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 16 knots. Further repairs and refit were carried out in 2010 and 2011 and the boat has been recently hauled for antifouling and maintenance. The foredeck is fitted with a sun pad and a full size ten man life raft. The teak decked aft cockpit has a Release Marine fighting chair, rod holders, double spreader outriggers and rocket launchers behind the helm station. A transom door opens to a good size swim platform and there is a Sunbrella bimini cover for both the flybridge and cockpit. The boat was originally fitted with a foredeck crane which has been removed but is available separately as part of the sale. She has Bennett trim tabs, a 24 volt Sidepower bow thruster, 12 Kw Northern lights generator, 38,000 BTU of tropical grade air conditioning, a Spectra watermaker, two fridges and a freezer and a full galley. Accommodation is in two double cabins for guests down below and a twin crew cabin in the saloon area.
The Bertram 505 is a proven and well built offshore fishing vessel known by many as one of the best production fishing yachts ever produced. Although this boat no longer has the original engines she is still in good order and would make a great charter or private fishing boat.
