On the aft port side there are controls including; bow thruster, throttles, and clutches. Port and starboard wing doors opening to full walk-around side decks leading to the teak foredeck with large windlass and ground tackle. The forward deck also has sun pad and several storage lockers.
Entering the main salon from the aft deck, she features large viewing windows, comfortable seating and serving bar to starboard. Formal dining for six is forward.
Going forward, the fully equipped gourmet galley is to port. The wheelhouse is forward of the galley and is built with a raised, leather, U-shaped dinette with beautiful teak inlaid table. The wrap-around helm station is very well done. In the wheelhouse is where you enjoy the benefits of the reverse angle forward windows. No glare! There is also an on-deck day head to starboard.
The master and guest staterooms are accessed by a stairway forward and starboard in the salon. Descending the stairway you will find the master stateroom forward and full beam with loveseat and vanity built-in. The flybridge has a full complement of electronics, L-shaped lounge and cocktail table, and large deep freezer, under a fiberglass hardtop. The aft section of the boat deck has significant seating and storage. ALTAMAR is a proven long range cruiser with great range and comfort capabilities.
This exceptional fiberglass yacht has had only two owners since launched. Originally built for the owners of Newmar marine electronics, this proven coastal cruiser was used exclusively as a family yacht for many years. She has been in very proud second ownership since 2006 with updates at that time to include two new 30kw and one 18 kw gensets, interior millwork, interior soft goods and much more. Again, she was the perfect family yacht within the west coast cruising grounds of Mexico and the Pacific Northwest.
Her unique timeless exterior was ahead of her time in 1988, with reverse shear pilot house windows, large salon windows, flybridge fiberglass hardtop and proper crew quarters forward. As buyers now take this as the norm today, ALTAMAR featured such in 1988; thus when comparing yachts of the same vintage ALTAMAR has much more to offer her new owner.
ALTAMAR’s shallow draft also makes her a perfect East Coast/Bahamas cruising yacht. A fiberglass hull and superstructure allows less paint maintenance than other comparable vessels. She is available to be seen in San Diego and is very seriously offered for sale. The current owner has moved up yet keeps her captain-maintained and ready for purchase.
