These legendary craft developed for true water sailing are still much sought after today, originally built in Costa Rica central America, they were extremely popular due to the superb build quality and access to the very raw material that we Sailors love and that is Teak.
This resource is grown locally in sustainable forest. Having access to fine materials it only amplifies the skills inherent in the Costa Rican's ability to work with wood giving the feel of real quality created by craftsman.
This general trend of inherent quality is evident throughout the vessel.

It was purchased from the Estate, late 1991 and sailed via the inter-coastal waterway to Ft. Lauderdale for a thorough re-fit. The main engine was in a poor state and replace with a new one.
Then sailed to the Cayman Islands in January 1992, then on to the UK in April via Key West, Ft Lauderdale, Bermuda and the Azores to Plymouth.
Since then she has cruised the UK South Coat, North coast of France, Channel Islands. Easily handled by a man and wife team when necessary. Tracks well a steady passage maker in most conditions.
The Hull is under going full Epoxy treatment and will not need anymore work for many years to comes, in fact maybe never. The value of this treatment is £10,000.
The main feature of the long Keel craft is never having to worry about keel bolts and should you be unfortunate to hit the bottom it will not tear the keel off, this ensures that if you are sailing in shallow waters it will generally be no more than a scarp.
