Built in the renowned French yard Constructions Nautiques du Sud-Ouest, CNSO, founded by Otto Tiefenbach, this yacht was one of only three built to this pilothouse design. The MIKADO 56 was built between 1976 and 1984 and these yachts have explored many corners of the world.
The Swiss owners of 'Sealight Star' have owned the yacht since new. They last completed a major refit in 2009 in Phuket Boat Lagoon which included new teak decks, cockpit re working, hull and superstructure painted, thorough rig check with some shrouds replaced.
The yacht has an interesting layout, commanding pilothouse, great galley and great accommodation. She will appeal to anyone seeking a true all weather yacht.
The raised pilothouse design offers not only a panoramic saloon but also a perfect helm station with immediate access to outside via the sliding doors port and starboard. With the helm one side and a navigation station the other generous working space is allocated for the skipper and mate.
The galley is also a generous in size, running lengthwise on the starboard side at the lower floor level. Access to the owner's aft cabin, with island bed, is at the end of the galley. There is a good workshop with a fold down workbench with vice and a built in drill press holder for a power drill.
Full forward, the crew cabin is a good size. The two guest cabins port and starboard each has bathroom, complete with sink and vanity.
The flooring throughout is wooden except the galley, workshop and heads and all cabins have diesel heating.
80 lph 240VAC watermaker.
Three, hot and cold water plus aft deck shower.
One electric TMQ with big bowl aft and two manual Grocos forward. Two holding tanks.
The yacht's AC system is 220VAC, shore power inlet and distribution. There are transformers for 110VAC and 220VAC use. The battery bank is a vast 11 x 12V Pollux deep cycle 100 Ah batteries, installed in February 2018. QUICK SBC Advanced Plus1450 battery charger. Inverters. 2 x 120watt solar panels.
Schooner rigged, the Swiss made aluminium NIRVANA masts are deck stepped. This is an all furling rig, headsails hydraulically furling by HUTTON. Both the foremast and the after mast have inmast furling. Fitted fog horn / loud hailer and radar reflector.
Shaded after deck under sail or at anchor. Companionway sprayhood.
