OZ II was custom built for her original owner in 1983 to compete in the southern ocean racing challenge (SORC). She features a fin keel and spade rudder with a massive rudder stock and large keel bolts making her well suited to offshore racing conditions and an excellent local or offshore boat.
She is now on her third owner and offers spacious decks and a warm, cozy interior with good headroom, large convertible salon to 4 single berths, a large master aft cabin with queen berth and 2 single berths, a fully appointed and functional galley, large private head, navigation station, custom salon table, custom cockpit table, and private forward cabin with hanging locker. Sleeping accommodations are for 10 on-board for a full crew. The double cockpit with bridge deck separating the two makes the aft cabin spacious and comfortable.
In addition, the two cockpits rarely seen on sailboats, is an excellent choice for chartering and families as the clients or children can enjoy space on their own in the centre cockpit while all line handling and steering can be done from the aft cockpit. With seating for 6 in each cockpit and with a custom made table Oz handles seating and dining for a large or small crew.
The boat sails well and makes short work of windward passages often passing modern boats upwind. She was single handed by the owner with up to 11 guests and is quite easy to sail solo. An electric windlass and CPT autopilot are included.
The engine was rebuilt in 2010 and currently has 354 hrs, the high pressure pump and injectors were overhauled by G. Harris diesel in 2015 and the diesel tank is cleaned yearly. She features a recently installed custom Aluminum dodger and extended canvas cover with the benefits of a pilot house, 12 person life raft, and an 11' fibreglass RIB. All the sails and rigging including spinnaker pole, are in good condition and were inspected by a rigger at Yachttech in the summer of 2014. She has a max prop rebuilt in 2012 and has the same thrust in reverse as forward which makes her very responsive and easy to dock under power.
She is a quality built sailboat with a functional and comfortable interior and is an excellent choice for a performance cruiser, club racer or a voyage around the world.
