The Freedom 40CC offers acres of accommodation in a boat designed for easy blue-water cruising. Her cat-ketch rig is easy to handle and offers superb performance, especially off the wind, which makes her ideal for trade wind cruising. This particular example has been maintained to a high standard, and is equipped for long distance liveaboard sailing, and her centre-cockpit design gives spacious accommodation in two cabins plus saloon.

Vasco da Gama was built by Freedom Yachts UK in 1982 for a Canadian family who lived aboard her until 1997. During that time they had two children, transited the Panama Canal both ways and sailed the Atlantic four times.
She was then bought by her next owner, a professional British skipper, in Palma de Majorca and he lived on her there until 2002 when he sailed her back to the UK and stored her on the hard at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, UK. He sold her to the current owners in 2005. During 2006/7 she had a major rebuild, and the new owners planned to sail her from the Solent to India and back for a work project but Somali pirates persuaded them to fly the final part from the Middle East instead. Nevertheless she is equipped for blue water.
Now she has become a floating Mediterranean villa, in the water all summer and on the hard in winter. The owners have reached the age where they need to downsize and so very reluctantly are offering their much loved yacht and floating home for sale.
