The Freedom was an innovative rig design by Gary Hoyt with freestanding 52' carbon fiber tapered masts from 10" diameter at the base to four (4) inches at the top; with two halyards and a topping lift per each mast. All halyards, reefing lines and outhauls lead aft with brakes.
Hull was designed by Halsey Herreshoff; boat built by Tillotson-Pearson of Rhode Island.

The Freedom 40 has many large opening hatches to let in plenty of light and air below.
Her interior is warm teak with t&h sole. Forward stateroom offers large V berth, with filler; and shelves along the hull for extra storage. Drawers and two (2) hanging lockers provide ample storage. The forward cabin is separated from the main cabin by a full length teak door. Sony AM/FM/CD stereo w. speakers in staterooms.
The main cabin has a single settee/berth on port and an L-shaped dinette opposite.U-shaped galley is located aft of dinette.
Head has main cabin and aft cabin entrances.
Spacious aft cabin has a large/double quarter berth on port; with single/sea berth quarter berth on port. L-a-r-g-e navigation table forward of sea berth. Hanging/wet locker forward of nav. station.
Portable air conditioner.
U shaped galley is located amid-ships on starboard.
Deep, double stainless sinks w. H&C pressure water. Three (3) burner propane stove w. oven. Shut off on aft bulkhead. Tanks stored under helm seat in cockpit.
Frigoboat freezer/refrigerator located opposite galley, aft of single settee berth. Lots of storage.
