The Tartan 34 C was built in 1969 in the US at Tartan Yachts, (http://www.tartanyachts.com/dynamic/default.aspx), drawn by Sparkman & Stephens (http://www.sparkmanstephens.com) with the building no. 49.
There were built ca. 550 Tartan 34C, of these ca. 4 Yawl http://tartan34classic.org/ 2006 the "LOON of Fenwick" a refit, the sandwich cover was opened and the balsa wood was replaced by waterproof glued plywood. The sandwich surface was covered with 12 mm teak.
The LOON got a new engine Yanmar 3YM30 ( Diesel, 29 PS), also the wave and the propeller was renewed. (Drehflügelpropeller Variprop 4 Flügel "Blue Water"
When LOON OF FENWICK is a very fast ship that can compete in races with quite modern ships.
The two current owners do not want to sail for reasons of age, so the LOON OF FENWICK CT is now for sale.
Each year, the external wooden parts were ground on the shipyard and repainted in Halle winter storage.
