Congar is a well-known classic yacht with all the family comfort and safety features available today. She has been featured in numerous articles and given a place among the greatest wooden yachts in Matthew Walker’s wonderful book, “Down Below the World’s Classic Yachts”. She is extremely comfortable, sturdy and capable for coastal or world cruising.

Her beautiful mahogany interior has been restored completely and all systems have been professionally upgraded. A full set of images document her restoration and fine joinery right up to world class ABYC standards. Congar is equipped with 450amps of AGM power and AGM Optima spiral wound cranking batteries, a Victron Phoenix inverter/charger providing ample AC power and tasteful, low-consumption LED lighting throughout.

Congar has 2 USCG Marine Class III approved heads with solar venting, one in the private owners cabin and one in the main saloon. Lockers for spares and provisions abound throughout the vessel making her a perfect blue-water or live-aboard yacht.

Her spacious galley is fully equipped with a decorative deep sink, butcher block counter and a gimbaled Seaward 3 burner gourmet stove/oven capable of producing a full Thanksgiving feast. A 12volt marine refrigerator is used as a staging area for beverages and snacks. For cruising, there is a massive cooler/ice chest frame built in the forepeak which is integrated directly into the boat’s gray water system.

Congar’s interior headroom is a generous 6’6” with 4 sea-bunks, 2 settees. One sea-bunk is also a fold out double berth for couples.

Congar has a beautiful blue Navigator Sardine woodstove with view window for warmth and cozy ambience down below. A clever wood-box resides beneath the heat-shielded hearth. This classic approach extends our sailing seasons considerably and allows for magical evenings aboard ship.
There is a pristine 80 gallon stainless water tank for water and plumbing and tankage space for an additional 160 gallons for extended crossings. Ample hot and cold pressurized water is provided by the SuperStor system.

The carefully maintained BMW Mercruiser Marine diesel is a 5 cylinder, 150HP powerhouse. A stainless-steel prop cage provides ease of mind while sailing at night, even among the lobster traps of Maine or the crab pots of the Chesapeake.

Congar is a remarkable, solid and comfortable boat. The current owner is a corporate director who is also a licensed 100ton USCG captain.

An unexpected health challenge in the owner’s family has prompted Congar’s sale.
