HURRICANE - HMCo. #1125 is the finest example of a proper restoration available today.(completed spring 2015)
Following a 6 year period on the hard, HURRICANE was taken to Jens Lange at Baltic Boat Works in Bristol, RI for a comprehensive restoration.
The deckhouse was removed and she recieved a new deck preserving all of her existing deck timbers. Being one of the later models, her companionway slidng hatch is a huge bonus allowing ease of spinnaker handling and offering a below deck space for crew work.
HURRICANE'S sail inventory consists of a main, jib and spinnaker with only 2 seasons of sailing. Her canvas covers are as new.
HURRICANE'S keel was removed and all keel bolts were replaced. A true keel off restoration in every sense!
All of her suspect frames were replaced as well as all of her questionable hull planking. 70 percent of her original planking was preserved and splined top and bottom for addittional stifness.
New garboard planks were installed at the time of the restoration.
Hurricane's spar was rebuilt to the original HMCo. specification at the time of her restoration. Seventy five percent of her standing rigging was also replaced and all running rigging was upgraded.
The electrical system has been fully upgraded. All of her electrical equipment is new including the panel, wiring, bilge pump, battery switch, lighting and charging/USB ports.
HURRICANE has retained all of her original bronze hardware and has benefited from upgrades with her Reineck components where needed. Her fastidious owner has chosen to restore her in true Bristol fashion rather than compromise her integrity with modern hardware and rigging.
HURRICANE'S sale includes a custom trailer built in 2014. The S-class commissioned a shop in Maine to build the trailers as an upgraded alternative to the Triad trailer option.
She is the finest S- Boat on the market today. Lying in Bristol at Baltic Boat Works for her annual maintenance, she needs absolutely nothing.
HURRICANE was restored in Bristol fashion by her current owner who learned from his previous restoration of Olive, HMCo 1128 of which he performed primarily on his own.
With the 100th anniversary of the S-Class only a little over a year away, this opportunity is not to be missed.
